With a short drive in Tarzana you can go from lively shopping to a nature scene. The neighborhood is on the south-west portion of the San Fernando Valley and 25 miles from Downtown Los Angeles. Tarzana gloats with a well-educated population.
Population
In 2008, the neighborhood’s population was at 37,778 and the racial breakdown was 70.7% White, 5% Asian, and 3.6% Black. Thirty-five percent of the population is foreign born. The community is considered to be moderately diverse.
Restaurants
Ventura Boulevard is where all the elegant restaurants and cafes are located. Ariana is a great Lebanese cafe with amazing chicken shawarma pita wrap. For a classy upscale restaurant Peasant Wine Bistro is available with their high quality meats and cheeses. The Firehouse restaurant serves Greek cuisines with a cozy and home like vibe. Tarzana has bars and clubs but it’s a bit more calm. The locals favorite bar is Petie’s Place which has a welcoming atmosphere.

Tarzana is considered to be a wealthy community so, the prices tend to be above the average community. The costs of leasing a one bedroom apartment costs around $1,200 a month.
Shopping
Most of the shopping is found on Ventura Boulevard in boutiques. The boutiques can range from affordable to upscale. Then for grocery shopping, Whole Foods, Vons, and Gelson’s market are available in the neighborhood. On the weekends you can also find farmers markets.
